Please download here for the updated version of the Phase 4 training schedule. Room 2126D can be accessed by using Lift 19.

We are glad to announce that the following five students (Names are sorted in alphabetical order) will participate in the IPhO 2017 competition. In other words, they will also take part in the Phase 4 training. The finalized training schedule for Phase 4 can be found in the link below.

The raw score for Selection Test 3 is now available here.
The candidate number is your seat number for Pan Pearl and Selection Test 3.
15/02/17 Selection test 4 arrangements (18/02/2017)

*Pui Ching Invitational Mathematics Competition*

For those who cannot take the selection test from 2pm to 5 pm on 18/02/2017, due to the Pui Ching Invitational Mathematics Competition, please note the following arrangement:

All students that have been affected may take the test starting from 4:45 pm to 7:45 pm in Room 5619 (Lift 31-32). However, you may not enter the exam venue and take the test after when the unaffected students have finished their tests at 5 pm.



***For the students who are not affected by the competition***

For the unaffected students,  please take the test starting from 2 pm to 5 pm on 18/02/2017 in Room 5619 (Lift 31-32). Furthermore, please note that you will need to have a strong reason to leave the exam venue early and must agree not to contact the students that have participated in the maths competition. All early leavers will have their names recorded.



**** For the students who cannot take the test in the extra session ****

For the students who cannot take the test in the extra session due to the maths competition, please make a decision between the two tests.

This is a friendly reminder that there will be a lab session in Room 6137 (Lift 19 -22) from 09:30 - 12:30. Afterwards, Prof Wong would like you all to gather in Room 5508 (Lift 25 - 26) at 1:30 pm for Pan Pearl solutions and paper checking.

This is a reminder about the upcoming 13th Pan Pearl River Delta Physics Olympiad:

Date: 3rd of February 2017 (NOT the 8th)

Time: 09:00 - 12:00 [Paper 1]
          14:00 - 17:00 [Paper 2]

Please note that the latest information regarding the location of the Pan Pearl Physics Olympiad and the upcoming lab sessions are now been included in the PEP training schedule. You can download the latest version of the schedule here.

Additionally, the lab manuals for the HKUST lab session are also now available to download, under the 'Laboratory Manuals' section. Please feel free to attempt some of the exercises in the lab manual before the lab sessions.

APhO 2017 will be held in the city of Yakutsk, Russia during 1-9 May 2017.

The raw score distribution for selection test 2 has now been uploaded to 'Selection Test', including the mean, median and the standard deviation of the scores.

The instructors are now checking the answering booklets with the queries that were raised last Saturday. The outcomes of the checking will be emailed to individual students AFTER the entire checking process has finished. Please be patient and there is no need to go to the session next Saturday (10th Dec) for news.

The selection test 2 paper and its solutions are now available to download under 'Selection Test'.

The lecture note on Experimental Physics is also available online.

Paper checking arrangement: Please go to Rm 2612B to collect your answerbook and then go to Rm 2610, Rm 2611, Rm 2612A or Rm 2612B for paper checking. Note: We will need ALL the answerbooks back after the paper checking session has finished.

If you found mistakes in grading, your query will be noted and forwarded to the instructors for remarking if necessary.

Reminder for the selection test: You may only use a calculator that is not programmable and cannot store text. Graphical calculators are strictly forbidden. Please also bring your photo ID (e.g. can be your HKID or your student ID card etc ...) with you for identification.

AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM HKUST AND HKAGE

We will be following the HKAGE policy regarding the typhoons and rainstorms as shown in the link below:

  1. If the Education Bureau (EDB) announces that all whole-day schools classes will be cancelled due to inclement weather, all programmes/activities of the HKAGE will be suspended or cancelled.
  2. For outdoor activities and special events, students will be informed individually or via the HKAGE's website.
  3. For cancelled programmes/activities, students will be informed of the make-up class arrangement. Classes cancelled and make-up classes due to inclement weather will be excluded in the calculation of attendance.

Selection Test 1 Paper Checking Session

Date: 1 October 2016 (Saturday)

Time: 11:00AM-12:00PM

Venue: OEE 802, Oen Hall Building (溫仁才大樓), HKBU.

Important Note: This is your final chance to raise any questions about the grading of your selection test 1. The selection test 1 score will be finalized when the checking session ends and no more questions about the grading will be accepted.

Please note that there will be an optional paper checking session at HKBU on 1st Oct 2016.

There will be two lectures (Electromagnetism V) on 8th Oct 2016, so the tutorials will be cancelled on that day.
